"New big band death-country blues and free improvisation from another group featuring Evan Louison (Extremis/Daniel Carter Duo et al) on his own label. A lone guitar that's as broken-down and beautifully slurred as Syd Barrett circa "Golden Hair" or early Royal Trux fronts beams of drone, clatters of percussion, horns and a huzz of nocturnal sound that pulses in huge throbbing waves before spilling into a froth of beautiful songforms. Sounds somewhere between one of those Louisville big bands featuring Kris Abplanalp, the whole K-Salvatore/Egypt Is The Magic # axis and Little Huey plays the songs of Nels Cline and Diamanda Galas with a line-up drawn solely from ex-members of HNAS, Charalambides and Maher Shalal Has Baz. recently, an american flag was the only thing
that remained hanging.

Pilate Navigator, the same outfit that brought us the 
excellent Extremis side. This one pairs Louison with 
Geoffrey Wilson in a duo improvisation scored for metal 
and wood percussion, voice and horns and recorded inside 
a huge disused silo in Tivoli, NY. Map points would 
include NCCK action ritual, Kuwayama-Kijima's subterranean 
soundings, Chie Mukai's solo manifestations, Folkways 
urban/environmental sound recordings, Faust's "Signal 
Calls In The Desert" and an imaginary Fag Tapes/Xpressway 
joint live happening. Excellent stuff, edition of only

Waves of cold illuminated steel pulse with alla 
the sci-fi threat of early Chrome with Carter ripping 
metallic reports from his horn as feedback explodes in 
sharp whipcracks. Something about the cracked high tones 
on this one that is uniquely paint-peeling, while Carter’s 
great distorto-blues work keeps the human heart beating 
deep in the guts of the machine. Comes packaged in a DVD
